Bolton's Ricardo Santos gives Sheffield Wednesday & Aston Villa reflections ahead of Plymouth

Bolton Wanderers skipper Ricardo Santos believes he and his team mates have taken a lot from their clash against Premier League side Aston Villa as they seek to return to winning ways this weekend against Plymouth Argyle.

The Whites were in midweek action in front of the TV cameras against Premier League side Aston Villa. The League One side took the lead but bowed out of the competition after the top flight side came from behind to secure a 4-1 triumph.

But this weekend, Bolton make the long journey down to the West Country to Home Park aiming to return to winning ways in the league. Defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday was suffered last time out in League One.

Wanderers skipper Santos believes the Whites can take a lot from their performance against Steven Gerrard's side which they can take forward with them. It was a strong Villa team named which would not have looked out of place for a Premier League fixture.

Santos was surprised when he saw the Villa team sheet and felt the penalty decision in the second half was a key moment in the encounter. But he and his colleagues took pride from how they went about their business and will take a lot from it.

He said: "“I think everyone was as a team. We came in first half and everyone was with that we were doing. That is what it’s about, you have just got to try and enjoy every minute of it.
