Bok Women to play in front of sold out Eden Park in World Cup opener

In a massive moment for women's rugby globally, the Springbok Women will run out to a sold-out Eden Park when they face France in their Women's Rugby World Cup opening game on Saturday.

The Women's Rugby World Cup is scheduled to get under way from 8 October to 12 November in New Zealand.

Eden Park is expected to see 40 000 fans flock in to watch the triple header, with South Africa opening their tournament on Saturday morning against France in Auckland.

The tournament kick-off by breaking a crowd for the most attended women's Rugby World Cup match day ever, surpassing the 2014 Rugby World Cup final day, which was recorded as a sell-out at the 20 000 capacity Stade Jean-Bouin in France.

Springbok Women captain Nolusindiso Booi says that the will to win is as strong as it has ever been as they face the French.

Booi and her teammates are eagerly awaiting their return to the biggest stage of the game following their last appearance at the Rugby World Cup way back in 2014.

"It is a massive relief that we can get going again at this level because this is where we want to play at. We want to compete against the best teams in the biggest competitions and they do not come bigger than this," said Booi, who will be competing in her third tournament after being part of the 2010 and 2014 events.

France has not lost in four previous encounters with the Springbok Women, but the Springbok skipper is adamant that they want to compete.
