Bohs' Chloe Darby racing from Tolka to Parnells

It's about a 25-minute drive from Tolka Park to Fingallians GAA club in Swords.

Today, Chloe Darby will barely have a minute to spare when she makes that journey because once she's done playing for Bohemians in their Evoke.ie FAI Women's Cup semi-final at Shelbourne (2.30pm kick-off), she will drive up the M1 to line out for Parnells in their intermediate ladies football championship final against Castleknock (5.30pm throw-in).

"I'm more focused on the semi for now," Darby said. "I'm not really focused on the Gaelic, it’s more about the football and getting into the final. Hopefully we can do them in the 90 minutes!"

Darby's family is steeped in the Phibsborough club. Dad Frank helped set up the under-17s girls team and was helped Bohs enter the Women's National League. Mam Rosemary was also previously involved behind the scenes, chipping in by washing gear, preparing meals and generally offering help wherever it was needed.

They'll both be at Tolka Park today hoping for an upset and waiting to an offer Chloe a quick lift to Swords once the final whistle blows.

It's all go but Darby, who works part-time in a pub and is studying to be a teacher, is used to hectic days.

"I'm studying at the minute in DCU, I’ve two more years left so I wouldn’t look too far ahead, I’m doing teaching," she said.

"It’s going well, I’m doing PE and Maths so I can go into a career if you don’t make it as a footballer. It’s something I like and enjoy.

"My dad played for Longford and Athlone in the '90s. We’re quite a sporting family, that is something my Mam and Dad always put us into to try and keep us off the streets and keep us busying something."

Bohs have yet to beat Shelbourne in a competitive match but they can take heart from the dogged scoreless
