Body found in Salford Quays after major search operation ends in tragedy

A body has been found in Salford Quays after a major search operation ended in tragedy. Police confirmed search teams had located a body after reports that a person had got into difficulty in the water earlier this evening.

The emergency services were called at about 6.15pm, with specialist search teams being deployed. The search effort has now been stood down, but a cordon remains in place.

No further information about the deceased person has currently been released. On the GMP Salford Twitter account, the force said: "We've sadly located a body in Salford Quays after a report was made to us earlier this evening of a person getting into difficulty in the water.
