Body found at beauty spot following major search operation

A man has been found dead after officers searched a Trafford beauty spot over the weekend. Emergency services descended on Urmston Meadows on Saturday (April 6).

An underwater search team joined firefighters, paramedics and Greater Manchester Police at the scene. GMP says it was responding to reports of concern for a man's welfare on Queens Road, near Urmston Meadows, at around 3.30pm.

Tragically, police found the body of a 23-year-old man on Sunday morning. His next of kin have been informed, GMP says.

Officers believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. Enquiries remain ongoing, GMP says.

Police worked late on Saturday night at Urmston Meadows, hours after the initial call-out. A major rescue operation underway with a cordon in place.

A forensic tent was also seen close to the River Mersey. Images showed crime scene investigators combing the area on Saturday evening.
