Blow for Kerry as Jack Barry taking a year out in 2024

Kerry have been dealt a blow for the 2024 season with news that midfielder Jack Barry is taking a year out from football.

Having featured in Na Gaeil's relegation play-off victory over Kerins O'Rahilly's at the weekend, it subsequently emerged that Barry will be unavailable next year, his club confirming that he will be travelling to Australia for 2024.

Following the departure of David Moran after the 2022 All-Ireland winning campaign, 28-year-old Barry has formed a midfield partnership for Kerry alongside club teammate Diarmuid O'Connor.

Barry, a defensive-minded midfielder, who was credited with nullifying the Dublin midfield in the 2022 semi-final, made his Kerry debut in 2017 and has collected four League titles and an All-Ireland medal since.
