Blistering 64 sees Leona Maguire soar into Saudi contention

A sensational second round 64 saw Leona Maguire shoot right up the leaderboard at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International in Riyadh.

The Cavan woman had a disappointing first round, carding just one birdie on her way to a 76 that included five bogeys, but on Friday she found serious form to play herself into a good position going into the weekend.

Her eight birdies were evenly split between the front and back nine - finishing with four birdies in her last six holes - and the 29-year-old didn't drop a single shot at Riyadh Golf Club,

By the end of her round she had gone from a share of 66th to joint-fifth and a couple of shots off the clubhouse lead, but a number of players were yet to complete their second round, including first-round leader Patty Tavatanakit, Nicole Broch Estrup and Manon De Roey.
