'Blimey...' - BT Sport pundit can't believe what he's now seen from Rangers; GVB delighted

BT Sport commentator Darrell Currie was left stunned by Rangers’ performance against Borussia Dortmund, describing it as ‘sensational’.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men came up against Dortmund on Thursday evening, in what looked an extremely tough Europa League assignment at Signal Iduna Park.

Rangers made light work of their opponents on a memorable night, however, winning 4-2 in Germany and putting themselves in pole position to go through to the last 16, leaving their manager delighted, in awe of his midfield in particular.

It was a result that would have caused shockwaves around Europe, perhaps even suggesting the Gers could be a dark horse in this season’s competition.

Taking to Twitter after the game, commentator Currie hailed a magnificent triumph for Van Bronckhorst’s side:

“Blimey that was a heck of a start to our double header…Sensational display in Germany.”

The key now is Rangers not resting on their laurels, with lots of work still to do, especially with away goals no longer counting for anything extra in the Europa League this season.

An early strike for Dortmund in the second leg at Ibrox next Thursday would give the tie a very different complexion, especially with Erling Haaland potentially available next time around.

Gers supporters should treasure a great night in Germany, though, and the confidence it will give Van Bronckhorst and his players could be great moving forward, even in domestic competition.
