Blackburn Rovers closing in on transfer agreement with Wolves

The youngster is set to arrive at the club for the remainder of the season on a loan deal, according to Lancashire Live. 

Giles, 22, would be the fifth signing Rovers have made this window, following in the footsteps of Ryan Hedges who arrived on Sunday.

The left-sided player had spent the first half of the season on loan at Cardiff City before having his loan deal cut short by his parent club earlier this month. 

Giles featured consistently for Steve Morison’s side, competing in 21 games for the club. 

Wolves suffered from squad depth issues during the month and so recalled the player, but the club are now ready to send him back out on loan.

Giles earned nine assists during his time with the Bluebirds, but he failed to make an appearance under Bruno Lage since being recalled. 

Given the current injuries to Harry Pickering and Tayo Edun, Giles will slot in on the left side at a much needed time for the club.

Pickering is set to miss the next three weeks of action with a hamstring injury, while Edun was seen in a protective boot following the draw with Luton Town last weekend with the severity of the injury still unknown. 

Tony Mowbray’s side are second in the Championship, five points adrift of league leaders Fulham. Bournemouth are only one point below Rovers in the table and also have a game in hand. 

Next up for Blackburn is a trip to face Swansea City on February 5. 

This is a smart signing for Blackburn. Giles has proven himself at this level with his performances for Cardiff.

It is also a position of weakness in the team, so Giles should slot right into the side. 

Once Pickering and Edun are available again, he will provide ample competition which will be a great boost to the squad.
