Black Galaxies fine-tune for Eagles, beat Togo 2-0 in friendly

Ghana’s Black Galaxies secured a 2-0 victory over Togo in an international friendly at the Stade de Kégué in Lome, which is part of their preparations for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

Ghana will meet Nigeria in a two-legged play-off to decide who qualifies for the 2025 African Nations Championship billed to hold in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Ghana dominated the game, with Albert Amoah of Asante Kotoko scoring the first goal just three minutes into the match. Yakubu Issah added a second in the 27th minute, giving the team a comfortable lead.

Under the guidance of coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the team displayed confidence and a well-organised game plan. The friendly is one of several warm-up matches aimed at preparing the squad for their crucial two-legged tie against Nigeria.

The first leg of the CHAN qualifiers will hold in Ghana on December 22, 2024, with the return leg set for December 28, 2024, in Uyo.

Ghana eliminated Nigeria from qualifying for the last edition in 2022, beating the home-based Eagles on penalties after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

Coach Dramani said he is focused on fine-tuning his team to ensure they beat Nigeria again to secure a spot in the tournament.

The Nigerian side is currently camped at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, preparing for the games against their old foes.
