Big Ten championship: College football winners, records, stats - ESPN
The Big Ten Conference first adopted a football championship game in 2011 following the conference's expansion to 12 teams and two six-team divisions. Wisconsin won the inaugural Big Ten title game, defeating Michigan State on Dec. 3, 2011, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
In 2025, Indiana defeated Ohio State 13-10 to take home the Big Ten championship, receiving an automatic bid to the 12-team College Football Playoff. The victory marked Indiana's first Big Ten championship since 1967, and the first win (of any kind) vs. the Buckeyes since 1988. Only time will tell if Indiana can go on to join the elite group of undefeated college football champions this season.
