Big E shares postive update on his serious neck injury

There is good news for WWE and Big E on his current status, with the former WWE Champion sharing a positive update on his broken neck on social media.

The 36-year-old suffered the horrifying injury during a clash with Ridge Holland on 11th March edition of SmackDown. After E fell to the outside, he was given a Belly-to-Belly suplex by the Yorkshireman. However, instead of flipping all the way over and landing on his back, Big E landed on his head and neck.

The terrifying incident saw the New Day member suffer a C1 and fracture, and although no damage was done to his spinal cord, E revealed last month that the recovery was taking longer than he planned.

In a positive new update on the injury, Big E posted a story to his Instagram account showing him tossing his neck brace into the trash, seemingly signalling there was no further need to wear it.

The post comes just a week after E made his first public appearance since the injury, when he attended a Tampa Bay Lightning NHL game alongside fellow WWE star Titus O’Neil. In those images, the former WWE champion is clearly seen still wearing the neck brace, however, it looks like that is no longer the case.

There is still no clear idea of any timeframe for a return to WWE for Big E and whether or not he’ll be able to compete at the same level he did previously. However, this latest update is an encouraging sign on his road to recovery.

The New Day were still embroiled in a feud with Holland and the rest of the Brawling Brutes, however, on this week’s SmackDown Sheamus’ battle with Drew McIntyre may have finally seen the two groups moved away from each other.
