Big E reveals seriousness of neck injury and avoiding worse consequences

Former WWE Champion Big E has opened-up on the terrifying looking neck injury he suffered on SmackDown earlier this month.

The 36-year-old injured his neck during the March 11th episode of SmackDown, when he took a belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland. Instead of flipping all the way over and landing correctly on his back, E instead landed nastily on his head and neck.

The New Day member took no further part in the match and was immediately tended to medics and then taken out of the arena on a stretcher. In a video shared on social media later that evening, Big E confirmed he had broken his neck, but would follow-up with a further update with the good news that he wouldn’t require surgery.

Following his first doctor’s appointment after leaving hospital, E has again updated fans and revealed that he narrowly escaped much worse consequences on his C1 fracture. Reflecting on life feeling more precocious after realizing how serious his injury could have been.

Had my first doctor’s appointment and learning (because of the C1 fracture) I narrowly escaped a stroke, paralysis or death is very sobering. Life feels even more precious and valuable now.

Big E was set to team with New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to take on the trio of Sheamus, Ridge Holland and newly named Peter Dunne, Butch, in a six-man tag match at WrestleMania. However, the multi-time tag team champion is now set for a prolonged period on the side-line recovering from his neck injury.
