Big coup for Dundalk as Daryl Horgan rejoins club
Dundalk have pulled off a major signing with the confirmation that Republic of Ireland international Daryl Horgan has rejoined the club.
The 30-year-old was out of contract after his time at Wycombe Wanderers and has decided to join the club he won three league titles and an FAI Cup medal with before departing for Preston North End in 2016.
Stints with Hibernian, Wycombe and Stevenage (on loan) followed and the Galway man has returned to Oriel Park.
It is a huge coup for manager Stephen O'Donnell, a former-team of Horgan’s at the club.
"Dundalk FC is absolutely delighted to announce that Daryl Horgan has returned to the club," a statement on Tuesday night read.
Dundalk take on Icelandic side KA on Thursday hoping to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit in the second leg of their Europa Conference League tie, but Horgan won’t be eligible for the game. The Lilywhites will hope to have international clearance for Sunday’s league match at home to Shelbourne.
Horgan made his international debut in 2017 and the last of his 17 caps came in the 3-0 victory away to Azerbaijan in 2021.
