Bid made: Forest have 'approached' rising star whose value has increased 20x in 12 months

Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Valencia left-back Jesus Vazquez ahead of a potential summer move.

With Djed Spence’s loan spell at the City Ground coming to an end, and with a permanent move to Tottenham looking likely, Forest need to sign a new right-back this summer.

Neco Williams is being strongly linked with a move from Liverpool so that could be Spence’s replacement sorted, but it now looks like there could be reinforcements on the other flank too.

Jack Colback spent much of last season in the left-wing-back role for Steve Cooper, with the manager sure to want a recognised natural for the position this term.

According to COPE [via Sport Witness], Forest have made an offer for Vasquez, with Feyenoord also interested in snapping up the Valencia man.

The La Liga side ‘urgently need to sell’ this summer in order to generate funds, and Forest have ‘already approached’ the defender about a move.

A ‘hard and fast’ offer of over €5million (£4.3m) has been rejected – Transfermarkt value the youngster at £4.5m, a 20x increase from just £225k this time last year.

Vasquez may not be as well-known in England as Williams but he could prove to be a brilliant counterpart on the opposite wing if Forest can get both deals done.

At 19, he is still very much an emerging talent, so may not be seen as first-choice immediately, but he did still make 15 appearances in La Liga last season, showing he can perform at the top level.

It is always encouraging to see Cooper looking at young players, too, showing that long-term planning is in his thoughts, rather than signing experienced heads to simply cling on in the Premier League.
