Bernardo Silva's Man City exit would leave Pep Guardiola with three major problems

It's that time of year again.

The summer transfer window is officially open for business - which normally brings plenty of excitement for Man City fans. Last summer the club had one of its best transfer windows ever as superstar forward Erling Haaland arrived at the Etihad.

His arrival was one of several, with the astute acquisitions of Stefan Ortega and Manuel Akanji bolstering Pep Guardiola's options, though the jury is very much still out on fellow signings Kalvin Phillips and Sergio Gomez a year later. Guardiola now faces the almost impossible task of trying to improve a side that won the Treble this season, something which seems incredibly difficult when looking at his squad.

But with the opening of the window, as City fans will know, come the doubts over Bernardo Silva's future at the club. Every year the Portugal international, so often mercurial for Guardiola's side this season, is linked with leaving with the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly leading the queue of sides for his signature.

But while the rumours seem to come like clockwork every summer, something seems slightly more ominous this time around. In a candid interview with Record in January, the playmaker admitted: "I'm 28 years old, I'll be 29 in the summer, and I have two more years on my Manchester City contract. My contract would end at 31. I won't hide that my goal in the coming years, if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project."
