Bernardo Silva fires warning shot at Liverpool FC after Man City drop points in title race

Bernardo Silva says Manchester City are still favourites for the Premier League title despite dropping points at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

City's goalless draw moved them four points clear of Liverpool, but they have played a game more, and Liverpool can cut the gap to a single point if they win their game in hand against Arsenal on Wednesday. They could even go top before City next play in the league as they are in the early kick-off in three weeks' time, with City facing Burnley at 3pm.

The Palace stalemate was a frustrating one, Bernardo said, but he insisted he would prefer to have the points on the board and insisted next month's showdown between City and Liverpool at the Etihad will be critical in the title race.

Reflecting on the game, Bernardo brought Liverpool up unprompted, as he said: "It was a tough game, we played well. I thought we actually controlled well the game apart from one or two times we lost possession and they counter-attacked.

"They didn't create much. We controlled possession, our counter-attacking. Unfortunately we couldn't score. We should have scored, we didn't. A very frustrating game.

"Still a long way to go, nine games to go. We're still in a good position. It's still better to be in our position than Liverpool and they still have to play in our stadium. It's going to be exciting."

Bernardo admitted he should 'definitely' have scored, as he also rued missed chances for Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte and others.

However, he insisted City will always fight for every point in their remaining nine games, as he once again reflected on the title race.
