In his final ODI match for England, Ben Stokes made a young supporter's day when he gifted him his match worn cap and autographed it as well.

Stokes announced on Monday that the first ODI against South Africa at his home ground Chester-le-Street would be his last, with the all-rounder retiring from the format. And after England had finished fielding, Stokes gave his final ODI cap to a youngster in the crowd after signing it.

England fan group the Barmy Army shared a picture of the fan on social media with the caption: "A class act until the end @benstokes38 gave his final cap to this young lad as he walked off the pitch!"

Stokes received an emotional send-off from the crowd at Chester-le-Street after he was dismissed for just five, falling lbw to Aiden Markram. Virtually the entire ground rose to give him a standing ovation, recognising the accomplishments of the man who was named player of the match in England's 2019 Cricket World Cup win.

"This has been an incredibly tough decision to make," Stokes said of his ODI retirement. "I have loved every minute of playing with my mates for England.
