Ben Godfrey: Everton star stretchered off vs Chelsea after nasty injury
Ben Godfrey was stretchered off with a horrible looking leg injury in Everton’s Premier League opener against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
The English defender was in the starting line-up for the game but was forced off in the early stages of the match.
Everton were in real trouble when Jordan Pickford’s mistake allowed Kai Havertz to pick the ball up in a dangerous position.
Godfrey came charging back and produced a superb sliding challenge to bail out his goalkeeper.
However, Godfrey remained on the floor in in agony after saving his side.
