Behind the scenes at Sheffield Wednesday - Cole Stockton, Sam Hutchinson and contract talks

Here is the full transcript from our Sheffield Wednesday Q&A as Dom Howson answered your questions on the out of contract players, Josh Windass and their summer recruitment plans.

Joe Wildsmith, Hunt, Luongo and Mendez-Laing are currently weighing up their options. They are all free to speak to other clubs.

I don't expect there to be anything official just yet on whether they are staying or going. They have all got big decisions to make. Football is not a long career and they have got to do what is right for them and their families.

Former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant retires from football

I do agree with the decision. I am sure it was probably the most difficult one Darren Moore had to make of the out of contract contingent. Hutchinson is a fans' favourite and has played over 200 matches across two spells.

But the brutal truth is Hutchinson can't play a full season. He does pick up his fair share of injuries so it is nigh on impossible to build a team around him.

Hutchinson is still a good player but he is going to be 33 later this year. Wednesday have to make inroads into lowering the average age of the squad.

Despite releasing Hutchinson, Chey Dunkley and Saido Berahino, they have still got plenty of experience in the squad. What they need now is more youth, pace and dynamism across the board.

You would like to think so. It is important to remember that Moore is still a young manager learning his craft.

I know Moore publicly said the target was to achieve a top-six finish but the players talked a lot at the start of the campaign about going up automatically. I think finishing fourth was a successful season in the end when you consider the amount of injuries they had, Covid related issues etc.
