"Been trying to sell him": Journalist drops Arsenal claim on 125-game ace "Arteta doesn't trust"

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno doesn’t have a future at the Emirates Stadium and is likely to leave the club this summer, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Leno has made 125 appearances in four seasons since joining from Bayern Leverkusen, but he lost his place in the side following Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival last season and might have played his last game for the Gunners.

The Germany international was Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper during his first three years in England, but his time in north London has looked limited from the moment Ramsdale signed.

Leno started the first three Premier League games of last season, but his only other appearance in the league came in a victory at Aston Villa in March when the England stopper was out injured.

As a result, Football.London reported that he was desperate to leave in the January window, with Newcastle keen on loaning him, but with Leno Arsenal’s only other senior goalkeeper at the club, he was forced to stay.

Mikel Arteta’s side have since signed USA international Matt Turner, though, which could allow Leno to leave in search of more regular game-time.

When asked whether the German will settle for another season of sitting on the bench, he told GIVEMESPORT: “No, absolutely not. Arsenal effectively moved on from Leno some months ago. Arteta doesn’t trust him with the ball at his feet and he doesn’t have a future at the club, and he knows it.

“They have been trying to sell him for the last couple of windows and I think this is the time where he will get a move.”
