Bednar: Kuemper doing well, could start Game 4

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Darcy Kuemper could be an option for Monday's Game 4 after leaving Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators with an eye injury, head coach Jared Bednar said.

UPDATE: Per Bednar, Kuemper's eye is okay, just a little swollen. Could be an option for tomorrow.#GoAvsGo

Bednar told reporters Sunday that Kuemper's eye is okay, just a bit swollen.

Kuemper was forced to leave the game after being struck in the face by a stick late in the first period of the Avalanche’s 7-3 win over Nashville on Saturday.

“He got evaluated right away and by the time we went back out, we had information it wasn’t going to be too serious,” Bednar said Saturday. “Serious enough for him not be able to come back, but at least he’s able to see and do all that so that made us all feel better I think.”

The 32-year-old has had a strong start to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, posting a .934 save percentage and 1.63 goals-against average in three games as the Avs hold a 3-0 lead in the series.

Game 4 will go Monday from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville before shifting back to Ball Arena in Denver on Wednesday.
