'Be careful what you wish for' - Journalist hits out at 'comical' Leeds fans

Leeds United journalist Conor McGilligan has given his thoughts on the latest claims surrounding Raphinha and a potential move away from the club.

The Brazilian has arguably been Leeds’ best player this season, as he has a team-leading nine goals and also leads the side in shots, key passes, dribbles and crosses per game (as per WhoScored).

So when reports emerged that he is moving ever closer to a move away from the club, possibly to Barcelona – although Bayern Munich and Liverpool have also had their hat thrown into the ring in recent times as well – it might not be a total surprise that there might be some fans who aren’t totally happy with the idea.

McGilligan took to Twitter to air his views on the matter, claiming that the fact some fans aren’t being too friendly to the 25-year-old is ‘comical’ and they should just enjoy seeing him while they still can, while also warning those who are willing to see Raphinha leave to ‘be careful what you wish for’.

McGilligan does have a point when it comes to how fans treat Raphinha.

Whilst Leeds fans have shown in the past that they aren’t scared when it comes to voicing their opinions on players who may not be on their best side, given the situation the team are in – still in danger of being dragged into the thick of a relegation battle – anger isn’t really what is needed right now.

They should be rallying and putting all their support behind him in the hope that he and his skillset can help get them over the line. But if Leeds fans don’t appreciate him whilst he’s still here, they run the risk of making the situation worse if he decides to down tools because he isn’t getting the love that he rightly
