BCCI's Rs 1.25 crore bonanza for IPL curators, groundstaff

BCCI has decided to award Rs 1.25 crore to the curators and groundsmen of all the six venues which staged the IPL this year. "I'm pleased to announce a prize money of INR 1.25 crores for the men who gave us the best games in #TATAIPL 2022. The unsung heroes-our curators and groundsmen across six IPL venues this season," BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted on Monday, a day after the IPL concluded at the Narendra Modi Stadium here.

"We've witnessed some high-octane games and I'd like to thank each one of them for their hard work. 25 lacs for CCI, Wankhede, DY Patil and MCA, Pune. 12.5 lacs each for Eden and Narendra Modi Stadium," he wrote in another tweet.

IPL 2022 witnessed 74 games, with Mumbai and Pune hosting 70 league matches at the Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata staged the first Qualifier and the Eliminator, while Ahmedabad hosted the second Qualifier and the Final. During the league stage of this IPL, a private firm had arranged for stay for the curators and groundsmen in a five-star hotel, besides transport. "We're delighted by this news. However, the BCCI should transfer the money directly into the accounts of the groundsmen and the curators, and not to the state associations," a curator told TOI.
