BBC's Morning Live interrupted by Louise Minchin as John Stapleton's son issues statement
Louise Minchin halted Monday's BBC Morning Live to share a heartfelt message from John Stapleton's son, Nick.
John died at 79 over the weekend, with his representative confirming, "John had Parkinson's disease, which was complicated by pneumonia.
"His son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa have been constantly at his side, and John died peacefully in hospital this morning."
Gethin Jones and Louise paid respects to the television icon and "big part of the Morning Live family," but it was during a particular segment that John's son Nick offered his personal tribute.
Following a montage of John's memorable moments, Gethin expressed, "Our hearts go out to Nick and all of his family, of course."
Louise added, "Oh, what a lovely man he was, and it was really great to have him as part of this show as well, and he was here recently, wasn't he?"
Gethin recalled, "He was actually in the summer, and he was a total joy. He was on talking about 40 years of Watchdog, which, of course, he was a huge part of.
"But just watching him, watching everyone else, being in his environment, commanding the space, the pattern of language, and really funny. He was telling really funny stories during rehearsals, and you could hear the producer going, 'Hey, we need to move on'.
"He was here with his son, Nick. He was a massive part of our show as well. And you can see how proud Nick was, like his eyes were wide open just watching John do his thing. It was just lovely to have him both."
During the programme, Louise took a moment to share Nick Stapleton's heartfelt tribute to his father.
She read, "Nick left this beautiful tribute for him as well. I'm just going to read some of it because it's really moving.
