BBC EastEnders legend who made history 'to be killed off' as fans 'work out' tragic twist

Fans are speculating that an EastEnders icon could be facing a tragic end.

Martin Fowler, portrayed by James Bye since 2014, has been a fixture on the BBC soap since its inception. Notably, Martin was the first baby born on Albert Square to Pauline and Arthur Fowler in August 1985.

Undeniably, Martin has won over viewers throughout the years. The market trader has been involved in numerous significant storylines, including murder and affairs.

Recently, however, he has been devastated after his ex-lover and friend Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) was imprisoned for murder. Martin is now resolved to secure her release.

As viewers will remember, it wasn't actually Sonia who committed the murder, but her fiance Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman). Amid financial troubles, Reiss killed his wife Debbie, who was in a coma, reports the Daily Star.

This week, Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) obtained the CCTV footage that could exonerate Sonia. He handed it to Reiss, who destroyed the tape as it showed him leaving the crime scene. Nonetheless, Teddy made a second copy and gave it to Bianca (Patsy Palmer), who believes Reiss is guilty. In Tuesday's episode (November 5), Bianca viewed the video.

Reiss attempted to fabricate a lie to conceal his guilt, but Bianca appeared to see through his deception. Now, fans are convinced that Reiss is poised to kill again - but not Bianca.

Viewers have taken to social media to share their predictions, and many believe he might just kill Martin. A member of an EastEnders Facebook fan page speculated: "I reckon Martin finds out the truth and Reiss kills him."
