BBC Bafta viewers say 'it's a crime' as Sophie Ellis-Bextor performs Saltburn hit at star-studded ceremony
Sophie Ellis-Bextor sang her hit song Murder on the Dancefloor to a room full of Hollywood's most-loved stars at tonight's Baftas ceremony - but viewers at home couldn't help but pick up on one small problem.
The popstar performed her 2001 hit, which is experiencing a surge in popularity after it featured in the closing moments of Saltburn, at the star-studded bash at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night.
The song recently re-entered the charts at number two shortly after the film’s release into cinemas and then onto streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. The catchy hit features towards the end of the 2023 thriller in a scene that sees Irish actor Barry Keoghan dancing naked around a large mansion.

The film, written and directed by Emerald Fennell, was nominated in the outstanding British film category at the Baftas, but lost out to The Zone of Interest. There were also nods to Keoghan for best actor, as well as Rosamund Pike and Jacob Elordi for their supporting roles, but the film failed to pick up any awards on the night.
Speaking on the red carpet ahead of the awards, Ellis-Bextor praised the film makers and said she "felt very complimented" that her track was chosen to feature in the film. "I was lucky enough to meet all the Saltburn cast back in November in LA at the premiere, so it’d be nice to see them again because I think what they’ve achieved with the film is wonderful so I just want to toast that," she said ahead of her performance.
