Bayern Munich's surprising Serge Gnabry ultimatum gives Edu and Arsenal perfect transfer chance
Arsenal had their reputation under threat on Tuesday evening after Chelsea seemed to steal Raphinha from their grasp. Despite the failure to sign the Brazilian, it is still imperative that the club signs a winger who could also be used in a forward position.
Edu has an excellent chance to make up for the Raphinha failure by attempting to sign Serge Gnabry who has been teasing a potential return to Arsenal since his departure in 2016. Recent developments about the German’s future at Bayern gives the Gunners an excellent chance to pounce on the opportunity.
Gnabry would undoubtedly enhance the firepower at Arteta’s disposal, which would give Arsenal a better chance at achieving Champions League qualification. It is a deal Edu must look to explore.
According to German news outlet Kicker, if Serge Gnabry stays at Bayern without extending his contract this summer, he could end up in the stands as a consequence. The report goes on to say that Gnabry is understandably unimpressed by this decision.
It is potentially because of Bayern Munich’s ultimatum that Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Gnabry, according to 90min. The German international left the north London club back in 2016 in search of game time and he has since established himself as one of Europe's most prolific wingers.
Earlier in the season German outlet Bild had claimed that Gnabry and his representatives are demanding £12.5m-a-year in wages to sign a new contract. But Bayern are yet to agree to these terms, which has put talks currently on hold.
