Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies Extends Until 2030, Rebuffing Real Madrid

Alphonso Davies has extended his deal with Bayern Munich to 2030, the German club announced on Tuesday, with the Canada captain rebuffing reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Wing-back Davies, 24, has won five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with Bayern but had been linked with a move to Real, as his contract was set to expire in the summer.  The five-year extension will keep Davies at the club he joined from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps as an 18-year-old in 2019.

In a statement, Davies said he had "already achieved a lot here, but there's more to come," adding "I'm looking forward to another five years together."

The deal comes one day after Bayern also handed captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, 38, a one-year extension to keep him at the club until 2026.

German media reported on Tuesday several other contract extensions are in the works for Bayern, including Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich.

Davies is currently out with a hamstring injury picked up in January and is not expected to return until late February.

He has played 220 games for Bayern, primarily as a wing-back but also in the forwards, and has scored 12 goals and laid on 34 assists.

Bayern sporting director Cristoph Freund said the deal "shows Bayern's status in international football and that Alphonso has found his sporting home in Munich."

For Canada, Davies has played 56 times, scoring 16 goals and took over as captain in 2024.
