Bayern Munich double down on Cristiano Ronaldo transfer stance from Manchester United

Bayern Munich have confirmed they will not be signing Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Ronaldo outlined his desire to leave United earlier this month. The Portuguese striker is unhappy at United's slow movement in the transfer market and failure to qualify for the Champions League last season, which triggered a 25 per cent reduction in his salary.

United received a €30million (£25million) offer from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia for Ronaldo last week, but the forward is set to reject the lucrative deal, which would earn him an eyewatering £233million over the course of two years.

Ronaldo wants to play Champions League football but there are few clubs in the market that could afford his wage demands.

Bayern Munich have been linked with Ronaldo, but key figures from the German giants outlined they will not be signing Ronaldo yesterday. Oliver Khan is Bayern's CEO and he claimed a move for Ronaldo wouldn't fit the club's philosophy.

“I love Cristiano Ronaldo, fantastic player but every club has a philosophy and I'm not sure if it would be the right signal for Bayern and Bundesliga if we signed him now," Khan told Bild. “Such a move does not necessarily fit with our ideas."

Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic also outlined the club's stance on Ronaldo to SPORT1 yesterday: "I have a lot of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, his successes and his career. But once again: That was and is not a topic for us," Salihamidzic said.

If that wasn't enough, Bayern manager Nagelsmann was another figure at the club that toed the party line on Ronaldo's future when telling Bild: “I saw all rumours on my interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, but that’s not true.”

It was confirmed on Saturday that Bayern
