Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann hints at Harry Kane interest but admits ‘problem’

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has not ruled out a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, although admits that the England captain would be a ‘very expensive’ purchase.

The German champions have lost Robert Lewandowski this summer as the Polish forward has joined Barcelona for around £42.5m.

They have not been quiet in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Sadio Mane, Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch, but Bayern have not replaced Lewandowski with another centre-forward.

Kane would be one of the few players who could be a like-for-like replacement for the prolific Pole and Nagelsmann sounds like he would be very keen to bring the 28-year-old to Bavaria, although he admits he might be too expensive.

‘Very expensive, that’s the problem, but a brilliant player,’ said Nagelsmann of Kane. ‘One of the best forwards, perhaps one of two or three centre forwards that who really can play centre forward.

‘Last couple of years he didn’t really play centre forward, he dropped a little bit to number 10, he can play number 10 as well.

‘Very strong, brilliant with his head, it could be possible that he could score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga. But it will be tough for Bayern Munich, we will see what will happen in the future.’

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has also mentioned the future in regards to Kane, telling BILD: ‘He’s under contract with Tottenham. Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future.’

This could mean that the German giants are considering a move for Kane next summer when he will have just one year left on his contract at Spurs.
