Bayelsa Queens, FC Robo win first matches as BOWFT enters day three

Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo of Lagos began their opening matches in the ongoing third edition Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) with victories over Nasarawa Amazons and Fortress Ladis respectively.
Playing at the UNIBEN Sports Complex, Bayelsa United kicked off Group B with goals from Blessing Abiola (12th and 24th minutes) giving them the win over Nasarawa Amazons.
Thereafter, FC Robo began their Group C campaign at the same arena with a 3-1 defeat of Fortress Ladies to lead the group. The competition began on Monday with Edo Queens defeating Naija Ratel of Abuja 3-1 in the opening match of the tournament.
The first goal of the competition came in at the 41st minute of play by Chioma Olise, giving Edo Queens a one-goal lead in the first half.At the resumption of the second, Edo Queens intensified their pressure on their opponents, which paid off in the 50th minute with the second goal through Suliat Abideen.
Although Naija Ratels got one back midway into the game, Edo Queens restored their two-goal lead in the 67th minute through Essien Emem.
The competition continues today with Naija Ratels tackling Remo Stars Ladies, followed by Bayelsa Queens against Confluence Queens, with the game between Heartland Queens and Fortress Ladies holding by 2.00 p.m. The matches will hold at UNIBEN Sports Complex.
The game between Royal Queens and FC Robo will come up at Western Boys Mini Stadium, while action will return to UNIBEN later with Ekiti Queens against Honey Badgers in the last match of the day.
