Barry Robson breaks his silence on Stephen Glass sacking as Aberdeen caretaker makes player vow

Barry Robson has hinted strong words were spoken following the sacking of Stephen Glass.

The former midfielder will act as Aberdeen caretaker manager and be supported by the likes of Gothenburg Great Neil Simpson and captain Scott Brown for the visit of St Johnstone on Tuesday night.

It’s believed the Dons – languishing in ninth place and out of both domestic cups and Europe – will act swiftly to replace Glass as they look to salvage something from an already miserable season.

Chairman Dave Cormack and his board pulled the trigger on Sunday morning after the meek defeat to Motherwell the day before.

And Robson has admitted the players know they must to carry the can for the manager’s axing as well as he suggested a clear-the-air-meeting has already been held in the wake of the dramatic events at the weekend.

He said: "It's never easy when a manager loses his job.

"It's difficult for him and everybody connected to the club.

"I felt for him but the one thing you sign up for when you become a football manager, inevitably this will happen at some stage, which is unfortunate.

"I have seen it happen a million times, as a player and as a coach. I just have to try and pick the players up.

"And the thing is, the players know they are responsible for it as well. It's a case of let's try to move the club forward and get a decent result on Tuesday."
