Barry Goodwin’s best pictures from the 2024 Dymchurch 10k

This year’s Dymchurch 10k winners were the class of the field - and the Kent Messenger Group’s Barry Goodwin captured the seaside action.

Dover RoadRunners’ Amy Stimpson won the women’s race in dominant fashion, clocking 45min58sec to finish in ninth place overall, more than two-and-a-half minutes ahead of Laura Drawbridge (48.36) with Nicole Dodd (49.28) in third.

The men’s winner also strolled to victory after leaving the field in his wake. Cambridge Harriers’ Mark Penny won the race with 45sec in hand over William Hickman after clocking 39.02. Jim Bacon was third at the seaside, 34sec behind Hickman with 40.21.

Other Kent runners to do well included Dover RoadRunners’ Darren Mills, who was 21st in 53.33, South Kent Harriers’ Penny Southern (seventh female, 56.33), White Cliffs Athletics & Running Club duo Justine Screene (13th female, 59.23) and Daren Screene (48th, 1hr01min46sec) and Ashford Striders’ Matthew Gilbert (59th, 1:05.21).

Staplehurst’s Tony Luckhurst was 88th (1:15.59) while the MedwayFit trio of Caroline Savage, John Birdsey and Linda Birdset were 41st female (1:16.00), 90th (also 1:16.00) and 42nd female (1:17.39) respectively.
