Bargain items that will help you save on energy from heated hoodies to special blankets

Energy bills are set to rise by up to 54% in April 2022, with the average home facing bills an increase of £693.

Currently the UK government limits, or ‘caps’ how much suppliers can charge customers for their energy use.

This cap is reviewed every six months by Ofgem, the UK’s energy regulator, who recently announced that they were raising the cap by a massive 54%.

The record-breaking increase is down to the global increase in need for fuel, combined with big oil-production countries like Russia limiting their production for certain countries including the UK.

Due to the UK’s heavy reliance on gas and energy to fuel their homes, it means we’re having to pay even more for the energy we use.

This increase can mean more UK households will be forced to live in ‘fuel poverty’.

Fuel poverty occurs when a household spends more than 10% of it’s income on fuel, and leaves them without enough to maintain an adequate standard of living.
