Barcelona target Bernardo Silva 'will remain' at Man City and other transfer rumours

Bernardo Silva will stay at Premier League champions Manchester City amid interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain - according to reports.

Speculation over the Portuguese sensation continues to mount, although there have been no confirmed moves for his signature this summer transfer window. Bernardo, 28, might have moved on 12 months ago, but he stayed put at the Etihad Stadium and made a telling contribution last season.

Indeed, the former Benfica man scored eight goals and provided four assists in the Premier League as City won the title for a fourth time in five years. Bernardo has not started a match this campaign and two short appearances have come from the bench during wins over West Ham and newly-promoted Bournemouth.

Despite well-documented financial problems, Barcelona wanted to sign Bernardo this summer to follow-up moves for Robert Lewandowski and others. PSG were also mooted to be interested and City reportedly wanted €90million or €100million for his signature to stave off those potential suitors.

However, as per reports from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, there has been a change in stance for City and they will keep the player this summer. Bernardo cost City around €50m from AS Monaco and he has three years left to run on his contract at the club.

Elsewhere, former City coach Mikel Arteta says he expects Bukayo Saka to sign a new contract at Arsenal - ending suggestions City or Liverpool might swoop for his signature. Saka, 20, has emerged as one of the hottest properties in the Premier League over the last 18 months and is a regular for the England national team.

Saka has regularly been linked with a move to the Etihad
