Barcelona 'suffer possible Bernardo Silva blow' and more Man City transfer rumours

Barcelona could lose out on the chance to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer as the Blues plan to offer the midfielder a contract renewal.

Bernardo has two years left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium. Speculation surrounds his future and suggestions he could be on the move this summer with the potential of his time at City coming to a conclusion.

The Camp Nou side have been linked with a move for the City midfielder this summer. Should this come to fruition, then Bernardo would link up with former City team-mate Ilkay Gundogan who headed to Barca upon the expiry of his deal with the Treble winners.

However, though they have that aspiration, there are a couple of major stumbling blocks that could stop the deal from happening, and both are linked to finance.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Bernardo 'dreams' of being a Barca player, but City are preparing to offer the midfielder a contract renewal worth €18m a year. City are also said to have slapped a price tag on the midfielder of €80m.

Sticking with City and Barcelona, the Camp Nou side reportedly want to bring Joao Cancelo to the club, but Caught Offside reports that other clubs are in the running for the Portuguese star's signature. The publication reports that Cancelo is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, but that Barca not being able to move right now for the defender allows other clubs the chance to enter the fray.

Cancelo is back at City having spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich. That move came about after the defender fell out of favour with Pep Guardiola..
