Barcelona stars complain about the PITCH after drawing in Germany

Barcelona complained about the playing surface at the Deutsche Bank Park after struggling to a 1-1 draw with the ninth best team in the Bundesliga.

‘Considering the pressure and the state of the pitch it was not a bad result,’ said Eric Garcia after failure to beat Eintracht Frankfurt.

‘The pitch was not in the best shape but it is not an excuse because we are professional,’ said goalscorer Ferran Torres.

And Sergio Busquets added: ‘The playing surface was not good and it made it difficult for us to play first time passes.’

The former Manchester City striker Torres got Barcelona’s equaliser on the night. And Garcia held together Barcelona’s defence after Gerard Pique went off with a groin problem midway through the first half.

He will now have tests on the injury to the abductor muscle in his left leg and hope to be fit for next Thursday’s return.

Coach Xavi also mentioned the pitch but admitted his side had not been at their best. He said: ‘We didn't know how to stop their transitions. We were slower than usual and the pitch wasn't in the best condition.

‘We generated fewer chances than usual but we were satisfied with the result. We didn't know how to stop their counter-attacks.’

On Torres' equalizer created by the two substiutes he had just put on Ousmane Dembele and Frenkie de Jong he added: ‘The goal is a great goal, pure talent from the players.

'It will be complicated at the Camp Nou but we're playing in front of our own fans.

'The thing about Pique is that he's been struggling for a long time, let's hope it's nothing serious.’
