Barcelona reveal early exit clause in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract after Arsenal exit

Barcelona have included an early exit clause in their deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal.

The 32-year-old completed his move to Barcelona in the final hour of the January transfer window after Arsenal agreed to cancel his contract.

Aubameyang, who was earning £350,000 a week with the Gunners, has signed a deal with Barcelona that runs until 2025 and has a €100 million (£83.4m) release clause.

The striker has agreed to take a considerable pay cut in order to make the move to Barcelona, with his new deal worth £80,000 a week before bonuses.

But Barcelona have also included an ‘exit option’ as part of Aubameyang’s new contract which could see him leave Camp Nou at the end of next season.

A statement from Barcelona read: ‘The player will sign a contract until June 30, 2025, with an exit option agreed on June 30, 2023, and will have a termination clause of 100 million euros.’

In his first interview since joining Barcelona, Aubameyang said: ‘I am very happy and content to be here and I really want to go out on the pitch.

‘In the end it was done. It was a very hard day, but in the end I am here, eager and very happy.
