Barcelona fan at Nou Camp spotted with Benzema's name on their shirt after hat-trick v PSG
Karim Benzema is the talk of the footballing world right now.
On Wednesday evening, Real Madrid‘s main man scored the most memorable hat-trick of his career to date against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Benzema’s 16-minute treble at the Bernabeu came after Los Blancos fell 2-0 behind on aggregate in their knockout tie and it was just absolutely incredible to watch.
The Frenchman has now moved up to third in the list of Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorers, his hat-trick seeing him overtake the great Alfredo di Stefano.
Despite now being 34 years of age, Benzema is playing the best football of his distinguished career and that’s reflected in the numbers he’s produced in 2021/22.
At the time of writing, the former Lyon man has scored 30 goals and assisted a further 12 in just 33 games across all competitions this season.
That’s a return befitting of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo in their primes and there’s certainly a case to be made that Benzema is currently the best footballer on the planet.
The Real Madrid striker is so good that he’s even making those associated with Barcelona forget about the bitter El Clasico rivalry that exists between the two sides.
Soon after his heroics on Wednesday, Dani Alves – who currently plays for the Blaugrana and previously represented PSG – praised Benzema to the rafters in a post on Instagram.
