Barcelona chief proposes Adama Traore transfer swap with Wolves

Barcelona president Joan Laporta thinks his side should ponder a swap of Adama Traore for Francisco Trincao.

Traore is currently on loan at the Nou Camp from Wolverhampton Wanderers having moved to Spain in January while Trincao is set to spend the rest of the season at Molineux. Traore made clear his desire to return to Catalonia, his birthplace, and Wolves sanctioned a loan deal with an option to make the move permanent for £29 million in the summer.

The 26 year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and Wolves had received bids worth much less than the option in the Barcelona deal. Laporta is looking to put Barcelona back among the European elite having seen a resurgence under new coach Xavi and with financial wriggle room being created by a new Spotify sponsorship and the potential summer sales of Antoine Griezmann and Philippe Coutinho.

Laporta has proposed a swap deal which would see Trincao join Wolves permanently in exchange for Traore, but it is unclear if Bruno Lage 's men would feel they have got value for money out of such a move.

Trincao registered his first goal and assist for Wolves in his 24th match for the club against Leeds United last time out.

He has only started 14 matches this season.

"We are delighted with Adama," Laporta told the Catalan radio station RAC1.

"It would be a good option and consider doing an exchange with Trincao.

"Adama has imprinted a spirit of maximum professionalism and dedication, he is a different player."

Contract talks between Wolves and Traore have stalled despite talk of a 'bumper' new deal for the Spaniard back in September.

His return to Barcelona is going well so far, with two assists from six starts and he is yet to taste defeat back at the club.
