Barcelona: Andreas Christensen’s presentation went a lot better than Ousmane Dembele’s

Andreas Christensen managed to impress with his first touches in a Barcelona shirt this week.

The 26-year-old defender signed a four-year contract with the Catalan club after leaving Chelsea earlier this summer.

Unveiled at the Camp Nou on Thursday, Christensen was asked to show off his juggling skills in front of the cameras.

Although these top-level footballers have spent their entire lives kicking a football about, it must still be a nerve-wracking experience for new signings.

Arguably the most infamous Barcelona presentation was Ousmane Dembele’s in 2017.

After forking out an eye-watering £96.8 million on the 20-year-old winger, Barça fans were expecting to see some magic from the Frenchman.

But poor Dembele had a nightmare, mis-controlling the ball on several occasions.

Dear oh dear. It’s quite surprising Barcelona didn’t scrap the initiation after that.

Christensen, by contrast, managed to keep the ball firmly under his spell and even channeled his childhood hero, Ronaldinho, by balancing the ball with his head for several seconds.
