Banayana thump Uzbekistan to get Turkish Women's Cup off to a fine start

Banyana Banyana couldn't have asked for a better start to their participation at the Turkish Women's Cup on Saturday evening as they easily beat Uzbekistan at the Emirhan Sports Complex in Antalya.

After flying to the earthquake-hit nation earlier this week, South Africa showed no ill effects from the journey as they ran out 3-0 winners on the night.

Desiree Ellis' charges were in control from the moment they opened the scoring in the 10th minute, thanks to Jermaine Seoposenwe. 

An Uzbekistan own goal from Shokhida Tojiddinova in the 13th minute doubled the lead, and Noxolo Cesane added a third in the 25th minute for a 3-0 half-time lead.

South Africa didn't add to their tally in the second half but remained fully in control of the match.

Their second match in the tournament takes place on Tuesday, where South Africa will face Slovenia.
