Ballymena Utd boss David Jeffrey upbeat about his transfer dealings so far in a "difficult" market

Ballymena United boss David Jeffrey was delighted to complete four signings in a little over 24 hours with a triple swoop in the transfer market on Wednesday night.

Carrick Rangers forward Jordan Gibson, Coleraine midfielder Evan Tweed and Linfield’s Jake Corbett were all confirmed as new arrivals.

They join experienced striker David McDaid who was snapped up by the Sky Blues from Larne for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday night.

“I’m very pleased with all three signings,” said Jeffrey of his latest recruits. “Recruitment is difficult in these times so to get the players we were targeting is gratifying.”

Corbett's arrival is the most intriguing and the United boss is delighted to capture the 20-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan with the Welders after recovering from a serious knee injury.

Corbett, who has represented Northern Ireland at U19 level, scored seven goals in 16 games for the Welders last season.

“Jake is an exciting young talent whose potential was hampered before last season due to injuries, but now he's ready to kick on and develop that talent further," said Jeffrey.

“We're delighted he has chosen to do that here when we know there were other options open to him. The negotiations were quick and simple and he's raring to go for the next chapter of his career.”

Gibson, a versatile and technically gifted player, scored 10 goals for Carrick Rangers last season.

Jeffrey told the Ballymena United website: “'We have looked at Jordan in the last three seasons and he is someone I've admired in terms of his ability, physicality and hard work.
