Ballinamore ace Róisín McHugh scoops player of the month award for November

Róisín McHugh from Leitrim's Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins has been named The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for November.

Ahead of the club’s All-Ireland intermediate club final against Glanmire of Cork, the 26-year-old has been recognised for her sparkling form on the run to Croke Park.

McHugh was player of the match in both the county senior B final victory over St Mary’s Kitoghert and the Connacht showpiece against Sligo’s Eoghan Rua.

In a narrow 1-10 to 1-09 victory in the provincial decider, McHugh scored 0-05, including three pointed frees, as Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins got over the line.

The centre-forward maintained that rich form in the recent All-Ireland semi-final victory over Derry’s Steelstown Brian Ógs, kicking three points from play plus five more frees as Ballinamore became the first Leitrim club since Aughawillan contested the junior final in 1997 to reach an All-Ireland decider.

Ballinamore and Glanmire will contest the intermediate final this Saturday, 16 December, at Croke Park with a 3pm throw-in.
