'Bad example' - Paul Ince shares damning verdict on Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Paul Ince fears Manchester United got it horribly wrong by re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo last summer.

Having completed a sensational return to Old Trafford - after 12 years with Real Madrid and Juventus - the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 14 goals in 26 games this season.

Despite enduring his longest goal drought for over a decade (six games), Ronaldo has proved there is plenty left in the tank on-field as United turn their attentions to Brighton at Old Trafford on Tuesday night (8.15pm).

However, the 37-year-old has also been heavily criticised by some observers for 'negative' antics.

This includes remonstrating against teammates when things are not going to plan and openly showing frustration when he has been substituted by Ralf Rangnick during matches. Ronaldo has also 'stormed' down the tunnel when results have not fallen in United's favour.

According to Ince, it is 'all about Ronaldo' as things stand and that should not be the case moving forward.

Speaking to Genting Casino, former United midfielder Ince said: "This is not the Ronaldo of 19 years ago when he was first at Old Trafford - this is a 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

"When people say he'll be great for the club and the youngsters, you'd have thought that would be the case. But he's walking off down the tunnel and throwing his toys out of the pram.

"For me, that's a bad example. This is someone at the end of his career and if he can't start against Burnley who are bottom of the table there's something seriously wrong. It should be about the team, but it's now become all about Ronaldo."
