Australian GP: Who has the most wins at Albert Park?

The Australian Grand Prix returns this weekend but which Formula 1 driver has the most wins around the Albert Park circuit?

There’s been an F1 race in Australia since the mid-80s but the sport didn’t arrive in Melbourne until 1995, with Adelaide hosting the Grand Prix before then.

Since that time, though, each Aussie GP has been held at the Albert Park circuit and, after missing 2020 and 2021 thanks to the pandemic, the sport is heading back to the track for 2022.

The likes of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen will be looking to get their first-ever Aussie wins this weekend, then, as they bid to add their name to the list of drivers who have won around the circuit.

It’s Michael Schumacher who leads the way, though, in terms of the most victories Down Under with him winning 4 races there in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004.

On three wins in Oz, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel rank as the joint-second most successful drivers at the circuit, whilst a host of drivers sit on two race wins at the track.

Damon Hill won the first in 1995 and then again in 1996, whilst Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard all have won twice at the circuit since its introduction to the calendar nearly 30 years ago.
