Austin Theory fires back after being accused of stealing former WWE star’s gimmick

Austin Theory has responded to the claims that he stole former WWE star Tyler Breeze’s NXT character.

Austin Theory has been featured pretty heavily on Monday Night Raw since the WWE Draft in October of last year.

The former NXT star has been partnered with Vince McMahon on TV, which is usually a pretty good sign that the WWE Chairman wants to push you.

However, fans have claimed that Austin Theory, who takes selfies with opponents he’s about to face or has already beaten, has stolen Tyler Breeze’s old gimmick.

Speaking to SK Wrestling, Theory addressed the claims, saying that he’s going about the character in a “different way”.

“You see stuff online where people are like, ‘It’s ripping this off, it’s ripping that off.’ To me, it’s a different way of doing it and I’m going about it a different way. Anything that people might have seen before or think they might have seen before, they don’t want to get along with it because they’re like, ‘Well, it’s already happened.’ But I think what I do is totally different.

Theory then spoke about how he’s going to take a selfie with Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship after he wins the Elimination Chamber tomorrow night.

“If anybody has a different opinion to that, that’s theirs, but I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s gonna be so great when I take that selfie in Saudi Arabia with the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. People can tweet all they want that they hate that. It doesn’t matter because that’s a selfie that’s gonna be in the history books forever.”

You can watch WWE Elimination Chamber live tomorrow in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
