Aurelien Tchouameni gives Liverpool hope as Monaco man’s admission casts doubt on Real move

Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has denied that his future has already been decided despite links to Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has been turning heads with his displays for the Ligue 1 outfit over the past two seasons. The France international has helped Monaco achieve back-to-back third-place finishes in the French top flight. And a few of Europe’s big-hitters have been monitoring his progress at Stade Louis II.

The Reds have been credited with an interest over the past few months. Manchester United and Chelsea were also mentioned in connection with the former Bordeaux man.

But links to Real have emerged in recent times.

Respected transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted earlier this week: “Real Madrid had new contacts with club and player side during the weekend, before and after the Champions League final.

“Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are still on it – Real are in now in direct talks with Monaco.”

However, the player himself has made it clear that there has been no definitive decision on where he will play next term.

“No, not yet,” he replied to Telefoot, when asked if his future had been sorted out. “I’m not troubled by [rumours], because it’s a position I’ve always wanted to be in.”

And the defensive midfielder feels that links to Europe’s finest shows that his career is progressing in the right direction.

“As long as I’m followed by the top clubs, that means I’m doing good things,” he added.

Tchouameni has been tipped for a call-up to the Les Bleus squad ever since he played for the Under-16 side. The Rouen-born ace represented his nation at six age-group levels before enjoying his senior debut in 2021.
