Atlético Ottawa draw Forge FC 2-2 in 1st leg of CPL semifinal
Atlético Ottawa came from behind twice to draw Hamilton's Forge FC 2-2 in the first leg of their Canadian Premier League semifinal.
Hamilton's Anthony Aromatario opened the scoring at TD Place in Ottawa with a header off a corner kick in the 16th minute.
Atlético's Diego Gutiérrez knotted things up for the reigning CPL champions seven minutes later, before Marko Jevremovic scored off a free kick in the 35th minute to put Hamilton back in front.
Just before half, Ballou Tabla slotted a shot into the bottom right corner to bring Ottawa level again. It was the striker's 38th goal with the club, making him Atlético's all-time leading scorer.
That would be the end of the goals, however, as the two sides played out a scoreless second half.
Sunday's attendance was 6,108.
The series now shifts to Hamilton Stadium for the second leg of the home-and-away semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
An own goal by Cavalry midfielder Eryk Kobza was costly as Supra du Quebec held on for a 2-1 win over the Calgary-based side on Sunday in the first leg of Sunday's other CPL semifinal.
Zachary Brault-Guillard opened scoring for Supra du Quebec in the fourth minute before Kobza's error gave them a 2-0 lead in the ninth minute.
Tobias Warschewski replied for Cavalry in injury time before intermission.
